Good News for Android WhatsApp users

The users can transfer WhatsApp media, chat history, video, and audio messages between Android and iPhone by end-to-end encryption after Meta CEO and Apple announced it in a statement.

Recently, WhatsApp and Apple have announced support for WhatsApp data portability. Currently, the option will be available only on the WhatsApp beta version.   It will roll out slowly and will be available for all the users about a week later.

The CEO of Meta, Mark Zuckerberg announced in a statement that they are adding to WhatsApp the top requested feature which is the ability to switch securely between android and iPhone. last year they have added the feature to switch from iPhone to android and now this year, the user will be able to transfer their data from Android to iPhone.

Technical Requirements;

Android and iOS version requirements to use this feature:

• The users must be using Android 5.0 or above and Apple iOS users should be of iOS 15.5 or above.

WhatsApp Version Requirements:

• WhatsApp iOS version 2.22.10.70 or above on your new device
• On Android, the WhatsApp version needs to be 2.22.7.74 or above.

Steps to Transfer WhatsApp Data from Android to Apple iOS

• Install the Move to iOS app on your Android phone. Use the same phone number as your old device on your new Apple iOS. Your Apple IOS must be factory new or set to factory reset.
• Both the devices need to be connected to the same Wi-Fi or the android must use the hotspot of the Apple iOS.
• Open Move to iOS on your android device and follows on-screen instructions. Select WhatsApp on the transfer data screen. Tap Start on your android phone and wait for WhatsApp to prepare your data for the export.
• You will be signed out from WhatsApp on your Android phone once your data is ready to export.
• Tap NEXT on your Android phone to move to the Move to iOS app.
• Press CONTINUE to transfer the data and wait for Move to iOS to confirm that transfer is complete.
• Now, on your iPhone, Install the latest version of WhatsApp. Open WhatsApp and install it with your same old number.
• Tap START and wait for the process to complete. Finish the activation process on your new device and your chats are ready.

Points that Need to Be Noted

As WhatsApp says,

• The transferred data will not be stored on the cloud storage until the user creates an iCloud backup for the data.
• Your old Android phone will still have your WhatsApp data until you delete your WhatsApp or wipe your phone.
• Personal messages will be transferred but peer-to-peer messages and call history will not get transferred.
